Bollards
With the modern day threat of terrorism being at the current high level, many bollards are no longer required to act as just a deterrent or a decorative feature, they need to perform the function of providing guaranteed vehicle stopping capabilities. Utilising austenitic manganese, which is unique in its capability to plastically deform and absorb enormous amounts of energy without fracture Edgar Allen bollards provide this capability whilst also offering the same aesthetically pleasing qualities as bollards produced from alternative materials such as cast iron or plastic.
Using our extensive knowledge we have designed and produced a range of high security bollards to protect buildings, structures and businesses etc. against vehicular borne threat from the likes of terrorism, ram-raiders or other high level criminal activities.
The Citadel and Westminster high security bollards are one of a few types of bollards in the UK that have survived impacts from heavy weighted vehicles travelling at 80kph (50mph). They have been extensively used around London to provide perimeter protection for buildings and structures of great importance.
Bollard Testing
Edgar Allen bollards have been successfully tested at the UK's Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), an internationally recognised centre of excellence providing world class research, consultancy, advice and testing for all aspects of transport.
Tests are undertaken in accordance with PAS 68:2007, in which products are required to survive a certain level of impact (kinetic energy) taking the vehicles speed and weight into account. Vehicles are winced towards the bollard which are fixed into ground exactly as they would be in an actual in-street situation.
