Edgar Allen was formed in 1867 becoming a limited company in the year 1900. It has since continued to prosper as a fully integrated manganese foundry and engineering company, offering many services including pattern making, steel making and heat treatment.
Having been manufacturing and developing Austenitic Manganese and super austenitic steel castings for over a century we have become an expert in the manufacture and use of such castings.
The company’s core business is in specialist railway engineering focusing on the design and manufacture of low volume complex trackwork solutions for mainline and light rail markets utilising excellence in cast crossing manufacturing, product development and project delivery. In addition to this is our Security Solutions side of the business which provides impact tested bollards to protect buildings and structures against vehicular borne threat from the likes of terrorism or other high level criminal activities such as ram raiding.
On 31st March 2006 Edgar Allen Ltd. was bought by Balfour Beatty Plc to become part of Balfour Beatty Rail Track Systems giving the company the ability to manufacture, in-house all the main components required to produce a mainline railway turnout.
Edgar Allen is now a brand name utilised within the registered company Balfour Beatty Rail Track Systems Ltd. |
